New Fundraising Legislation

In response to the recent government-commissioned review on high pressure fundraising, following recent tragic accounts in the media of its effect on vulnerable donors, Mothers’ Union welcomes the proposed introductions of a more regulated fundraising sector.

Though Mothers’ Union does not use cold telephone fundraising practises, or street fundraising, or sell any of its member and supporter data we are keen to see regulations set to minimise the impact on the reputation and legitimacy of sector where malpractice exists. It is also our policy to provide all of our supporters with clear opt-out choices in line with industry standards.

However, we are keen to ensure the government influence on fundraising practices allows for sustained and effective relationship development with those who are interested in hearing from a charity close to their heart.
