Wherever they are in the world, Mothers' Union members speak out against social injustices which adversely affect family life.
Experienced in dealing with government and parliamentarians, our social policy team offer advice to Mothers' Union leadership teams at national and international level as they speak out against issues affecting families in their countries. Since 2000 Mothers' Union has held consultative status at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women which takes place every year in New York. Members and key staff attend the meetings to give personal testimony and recommendations to governments and NGOs from all over the world.
Mothers' Union members experienced in advocacy represent the women of their country as they take part in government advisory committees. Across developing countries women are given training through Mothers' Union which equips them to take their place in community leadership groups - often the first time a woman has done so.
